Resource Centre

The Resource Centre contains written, audio, visual and educational material about intellectual handicaps and autism.

The Resource Centre is open from 8:30 to 4:30, Monday to Friday. The Office is closed from noon to 1 pm.

Members of WIAIH may borrow books.

Book Categories

Family Life

  • Personal stories, biographies, stories of hope and inspiration, parent and sibling acceptance, and bereavement.

Parental Guide

  • Guides on specific disorders such as Spina Bifida, Cerebral Palsy, Epilepsy, Autism, Attention Deficit Disorder, etc.

Advocacy

  • The rights of people with disabilities and how parents can organize for action.

Integration

  • Developing community, school and recreational inclusion programs.

Reference

  • Technical books, professional studies, policy issues and historical documentation.

Sexuality

  • Prevention of sexual abuse, teaching about sexuality, enabling relationships for people with disabilities.

Learning

  • Literacy, teaching life skills and theatre arts for people with disabilities.

Children

  • Child / teen reading level fiction and non-fiction about children with disabilities.
