Leisure opportunities for all ages
Recreation services are made possible through a unique collaboration between WIAIH and the boroughs and municipalities of the West Island, Baie d'Urfé, Beaconsfield, Dollard des Ormeaux, Dorval, Île-Bizard/Ste-Geneviève, Kirkland, Lachine, Pierrefonds/Roxboro, Pointe Claire, Ste. Anne de Bellevue, and Senneville.
The Recreation department is currently divided into two services:
Specialized Service: The goal of the specialized service is to promote the socialization skills of people with an intellectual disability through a variety of fitness, educational and leisure programs with their peers as described in this brochure. Over 300 participants and 100 volunteers benefit from these programs.
Integration Service: This service exists to help people with any type of disability take part in community recreation activities. Volunteer support can be provided. The service also provides free training for recreation service providers on how to include people with disabilities in regular programming. For more information ask for our brochure.
