WIAIH provides support to individuals and families of individuals living with an intellectual handicap or autism. To have access to our services, members pay $25 per year.

Our services:

Family and Community Support: individual advice about government services, education, advocacy. The Informer, our newsletter sent 4 times per year, resource center available to WIAIH members, monthly parent information and support evenings, monthly afternoon coffee breaks with babysitting service provided, Karaoke and Christmas Brunch, community sensitization and volunteer recruitment.

Pat Roberts Centre: an adapted pre-school located in Ste-Geneviève for children with developmental issues (developmental or speech delays, autism, etc.). Children aged 2 to 5 years old attend morning or afternoon sessions. If the child is under 2, an educator visits the home to provide infant stimulation.

Me Too! Daycare Integration: a program to integrate special needs children in a regular daycare on the West Island. Placement, regular visits and follow up by:

Recreation: recreational activities provided to teens and adults throughout the week and weekends. Fall and summer sessions. The fall session includes arts & crafts, cooking, outings groups, social clubs and more. The summer session includes day camps, camps away and social clubs.

Integration: integration for children or adults with special needs into community recreation activities including summer day camp.

Paus'Action: Babysitting and companion referral program. We have a bank of sitters qualified to tend to children with special needs. We provide respite to families by matching sitters and parents depending on their needs. Families are responsible to pay the rate negotiated with the sitter they choose.

Residence Valois: 9 adults with special needs living at Valois Residence (next door to our Head Office). Occasionally, respite is provided for others on weekends.
